The article wrote: The plane was reportedly a five-person Beechcraft charter plane on its way to King Island.

Ambulance Victoria said earlier reports that it was an air ambulance were incorrect.

Chief pilot of company that owned the Kingair-200 until recently is in town. He was called by CASA as they thought it was still under their AOC. He knew immediately who the pic was. His take - we were in same room when he was talking to home office.

This could turn into a s..tshow.
Locals have been trying to shut Essendon down for a while, expect increased noise on that front.
Pilot in question lost licence a few years back due violations/very close miss with another aircraft. CASA reinstated licence so vulnerable on that front. King air-200 is single pilot in Aus, multi-eng class so no need for endorsement or sim ting, albeit the pic had loads of time on type. Possibly vulnerable on ting front.
Pilot in question was released by former owner of aircraft due non adherence to SOPs-one cited example was disdain for checklists, procedure. Final nail on that front taking off with wing locker open.

Based upon history - run ups not done &/or auto feather not armed.

See what the accident team comes up with.
