Hard to believe a reversible unreliable airspeed would cause a crash like this. I would think they have some sort of memory item for pitch and power setting for an unreliable airspeed.

How about a pitot heat switch with 3 positions , Off, On, and auto, so that it automatically goes on when airborne AND oat is -10 to +5 Fahrenheit

Sad that something as simple as pitot heat takes down an entire aircraft. I feel sorry for the families.

That is nothing new by any means. Our airplne has pitot heat come on once airborne regardless of OAT.aeroncasuperchief wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:16 pm How about a pitot heat switch with 3 positions , Off, On, and auto, so that it automatically goes on when airborne AND oat is -10 to +5 Fahrenheit

Johnny, How many accidents and deaths does the industry/Russia need to have before it is mandated across the board for pitot heat connected to the WOW switch ?

How about proper checklist discipline to ensure this doesn't get missed?
