I certainly hope authorities raise the wreckage, extract what remains are left and give the victims a proper burial!
Flat bottom lake ....40-50 ft of clear water and minimal current.....I don't buy the safety argument!

Sad that brother Morris and other deceased family members didn't get closure!

Interesting story. Absolutely there are individuals/groups that have the skills and abilities to make the recovery.

Yes I find it odd that the RCMP will not dive to try and retrieve remains. If the RCMP will not do it who has the authority? Can a private dive company be hired by the family to do it?

Good question AP......an underwater camera rig with the ability to film the wreckage and its condition is available in Northern Sask..... if the windows and doors are not all popped out then there is a good chance the remains are still in side...IMHO....Keep in mind that a can of oil and a brief case washed up on shore years ago....also it was reported that a few other parts were found and offered to Morris way back when!

We'll see ....I'd like it to be investigated further!!

It's not over yet!!

DHC2 eater ... your remarks are spot on there skipper !!
I am in contact with the family, and the RCMP has now advise that they are going to proceed with a photo survey of the wreckage by ROV, backed up by a dive team.
Certainly the right thing to do.
Thank you to all those who supported the family and kept the pressure on the RCMP.
Clearly, the family is not going to rest until human remains are retrieved, should they in fact exist within that submerged Cessna 180.
To be continued ...

Just as a reminder....

This particular Cessna 180 was the property of the Province of Sask...Sask Govt Airways ... which became NorcanAir and later merged with other company's to ultimately become Jazz or AC Express etc. The pilot and passenger were both employees of the province at the time.

IMHO the Sask Govt are the ones that should be responsible both environmentally and financially for the location and future recovery of their aircraft and their employees!!

I'm a scuba diver with body recovery experience. I would volunteer my time to such a worthy endeavour.

That's a very generous offer Flyguy......I'm just an outsider who also has offered to help in a different area.....if the RCMP don't deliver maybe the family or advisers will take a look at your offer!

180guy is close to the upcoming events and has taken in your offer!

Sounds like the RCMP is on it. I've worked with their dive teams before. I have faith they'll succeed.

The RCMP dive team is on site ready to take to the water as soon as the wind subsides!!!

About 25 years ago a family member was riding the AC flight deck from YXE -YYZ ,pilots based out of YWG,and in conversation, one of the pilots had flown out of Buffalo Narrows and knew the whole story in detail!!!! They discussed it at lenght.

The family member lost the contact info and would like to make contact!

Any help here??
