Icelandair diversion

Post by BMLtech »

I'm curious about this incident as the article states that the passengers were all taken to a local hotel. This being an international overflight, would the pax not be required to clear customs,or be held in a bonded area? Does Bagotville have customs facilities? Or is there a work around for this scenario?
I'm guessing that if an international flight diverted into a small US airport, the pax would not likely be taken to a local hotel, but be held either on board or in a secure area?

News on TV showed customs clearing all pax when they came on board. Custome would have been notified or in some other locations the RCMP can do it if required in abnormal situations.

Sunwing flies in there in the winter. Not sure how the customs works there. Some places have customs come in from elsewhere when flights are coming in. It’s only about a two hour drive from YQB so maybe they had to wait for customs to get in from there.
