Glad everyone is OK but that aircraft is most likely a write-off.

Whoever is spokesperson for airport authority should be fired.
Aircraft went off end of RW14 which is near the golf course, not RW32 that the airport spokesperson said.
How can you get a job as spokesperson with little knowledge.

If you google metar history there’s a website that stores every report.

From a speci minutes after the accident:

I know 23 is under construction and most of the approaches are unusable, but I wonder what the LNAV minimums are. ~8500 ft available for landing on 23 even with the construction and 18 kts on the nose as opposed to 7500' and no headwind.

Glad no one got badly injured!

I checked the plates. There are many variables, don’t know what their equipment and ops specs allow. Plus, one would also need to see the Notams, in case these modified the published minimums.

Approaches on 23 are very limited right now.

With magnetic variation from the metar winds, 32 was their next best choice.

And it’s not like our notams are ever misleading.... seeing rnav 23 LNAV/VNAV not auth piled in there with all the others, they could have missed the fact the LNAV mins were still useable.

I don’t get why this airport waited till fall to do runway construction when all the fall windstorms show up. Now there won’t likely be any ILS approaches for a week or 2 till they clean up that giant mess.

With all the horrible reporting (runway 2???), I thought they landed on 32, but it was 14. Little bit of a tail wind, wet runway, big plane.

My reading of the story says that the '47 was there to pick up the lobsters...so they just got a temporary reprieve..

Where is Halifax storing all these wrecks? Do they cut them up and ship them out by truck pretty quickly?
