Spinner "sucked" into engine on a delta flight

Video shows the spinner and front housing being bounced around in the intake.

It looks like something broke, yikes, they are more lucky than they know.

Looks like it melted off. That shaft is glowing hot with 400kt wind blowing on it. Oil problem maybe? Lucky it didn't catch on fire.

Pretty sure that’s a #1 bearing failure on the LP spool. The cone usually contains the oil scavenge pump.

Nice that this ancient engine still has inlet guide vanes to keep the cone from going all the way through. ;)
