Of course, the exact intent of the pilot on this landing is unknown, but the AN-2 is known for getting into short strips. One has to wonder if this arrival was intended to be a super short field landing to impress the audience.
Most of us have tried a very short field landing in some sort of type at some point. But, one has to be careful if they are trying to touch down almost exactly at the threshold. What if you touch down a few feet short. Is there a 'lip' or 'step' where the runway starts.
I remember being part of a tailwheel flying group which had a Maule M4. One of the pilots was trying the touchdown right at the threshold technique and bent a gear leg back. The lesson learned for me was.....give yourself some margin unless you are extremely familiar with the beginning of the runway area and have confirmed that touching down early won't negatively affect the aircraft.

Looks like someone took that wacko poster’s advice and did a back side of the power curve approach.

Re: AN2 short landing Aug 23, 2019
He/she/it was powering down on the flare and not at high power on the approach so NO, he/she/it was not on the backside! Zaibat, don't let your Ignorance make you look too stupid ! One would have to power UP IF one was doing a backside approach, to flare, for 2 reasons, 1, to 3 point it ( roll it forward ) instead of tailwheel land it and 2, to arrest the descent rate!

As far as the pilots "abilities" ? SAD !
Re: AN2 short landing Aug 23, 2019
.and did a back side of the power curve approach.
I believe in this case, it was a backside landing, the approach, though too short, otherwise looked not bad.
Re: AN2 short landing Aug 23, 2019
After watching the video several times it looks like he/she just plain landed short of the runway on an up slope and made no attempt to add power to reach the runway.
Just prior to impact with the up slope in front of the runway he/she did pull back on the stick and started to raise the nose.
Seems like a simple example of pilot error.
There were several of them at the airshows in Europe and they are real big machines that had very good slow speed flying characteristics.

I imagine he just didn't see the hill and thought he was over runway, the visibility must be tight.
