"The Nigerian Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) became aware of this occurrence via a phone call from a passenger onboard the incident flight on the 5th of June 2019, three weeks after the incident.
A visit to the aircraft on June 6 and subsequent evaluation revealed evidence of significant damage to the aircraft structure and its No. 2 engine. The aircraft had been declared unserviceable and grounded by the operator since the date of the incident, for further maintenance evaluation.

The NAIB listed the damage:
1. Scrapes and dents on the No. 2 engine cowling
2. Scrapes and dents on the No. 2 thrust reverser cowling
3. Some fan blades were bent on No. 2 engine
4. Both Main Landing Gears Oleo struts collapsed
5. Scuffing of the sidewall of the No. 4 main wheel tyre.

At least they grounded it, instead of slapping on a bandaid and going flying.

So the engine cowlings on these things are made of fibre-board??
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself

They are made the same as every other large airliner. Kevlar (I believe), with a nomex honeycomb core, with a carbon fiber skin.

Just another day in Nigeria!
Worked a contract there for 6 months at the most dysfunctional Airline I've ever encountered - a bush operation with jets.
Delusional people at the top - they thought they were "The Emirates of Africa!" Things were so bad they had to pay cash for fuel in Lagos. Staff weren't paid for up to three months.
Rumours had the CEO flying bags of cash to São Tomé in his private jet - wouldn't have surprised me if it was true.
Same story is currently playing out in Senegal.
The only thing that surprises me is that there aren't more accidents.
