Anyone who may know the name of the instructor on board?

That's two Moose inside a week. There was a crash up by Goose Bay on Tuesday. It was rolled into ball, but everyone walked away.

Re: Three dead in Edmonton plane crash
Does anyone else feel the statement that the seaplane rating is intended for pilots who are already licenced is a bit curious.
I'm sure that way back when airplanes were more affordable guys would buy a cub on floats and get the private licence on that.
The question then was could they fly a wheeled airplane without additional authority.
I don't think so. Seems to me then the pilot would need a land endorsement
What say you?

Re: Three dead in Edmonton plane crash
I wonder why the PIC couldn't fly alone.
This accident reminds me of a guy I flew with one time. He was flying a Tiger Moth 40 years previous and crashed it while circling over a friends place. Tight turns at low level are high risk potential, especially when one is flying over something they want to look at on the ground.
Obviously, the official recommendation is to not fly at low altitudes, especially ones that break regulations, but there are situations where it can be legal. With appropriate precautions taken.....I suggest a nice higher speed, arcing, pass at a moderate bank angle and minimal g-loading. One can still get a nice view.

Geez, I wish people would post the dates of the crash in their subject lines when they post. I saw this today and my heart skipped a beat thinking it just happened.JL wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:04 pm TSB report: https://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-repo ... W0046.html

The date’s right there under the title on the forum index page.

Sounds like the cheese lined up.
Interesting note about the "instructor" who had no pilot record for the last 12 years because his alleged logbook was on his phone which was destroyed.

An important point. The date is right underneath the title but not even noticed because it is smaller. There is an old saying about reading the fine print.linecrew wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:28 amYeah the small, much less noticeable printCapt. Take a look at this article about a near accident.

While one is probably not going to read the huge amount of fine print in certain things we come across as it could take several hours(and be extremely boring), it can be helpful when the fine print is just a few words or a few sentences.
At least look at the fine print.

He would have been doing plenty of flying, logged or not, if you ask people that knew him.
