“ was attempting to land the plane while taking off”. This always makes the prop come off. Or so I’ve heard.

The pilot posted on a facebook page yesterday. Sounds like he had an aileron cable break and had to roll it completely around to touch down right side up.

Luckily everyone will be ok.

I can't see a lot of marks from sliding along the snow, but there's a lot less damage than i'd expect from a single hit. Maybe the snow is crustier on top than it looks.

Built in 1993... That's an old Lancair.

He wrote it on the Alberta GA Facebook page, saying he was the pilot, but it looks like the comment was later deleted. Maybe because he realized his plane didnt have aileron cables, haha no idea what happened to it, but someone screen shot the original post

Also it maybe isn't a good idea as far as your insurance coverage is concerned to post your account of what happened before a proper investigation is conducted. I assumed that's why it was deleted.

C-GEVC, an amateur-built Lancair 360, was operating on a local flight from Josephburg, AB
(CFB6). Prior to take-off the pilot completed the runup and preflight checks, which included
checking that the flight controls were free and clear. The aircraft taxied and began takeoff on
Runway 26. The aircraft accelerated, rotated and became airborne. During the initial climb, at
approximately 100 feet AGL, the aircraft began an uncommanded roll to the right. The pilot was
unable to maintain a level attitude and continued rolling to the right. The aircraft completed one roll
before colliding with terrain while upright. The aircraft came to rest approximately 200 feet to the
north side of Runway 26. The pilot received no injuries and the passenger received serious
injuries. The ELT activated on impact and was turned off by the pilot. The aircraft was subtantially
damaged.

That airplane was recently listed on the COPA classifieds back in late 2020. New owners?

Yikes.
