INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
BRASILIA: Antonio Sena was flying a single-prop Cessna 210 over the Brazilian Amazon when the engine suddenly stopped, leaving him minutes to find a spot in the jungle to crash-land.
He survived with no injuries, but was stranded in the middle of the world's largest rainforest - the start of a 38-day trek he says taught him one of the biggest lessons of his life.
Sena, 36, was hired to fly a cargo run from the northern town of Alenquer to an illegal gold mine in the rainforest, known as the "California".
Flying at an altitude of about 1,000m, he knew when the engine stopped halfway there he would not have much time.
He managed to bring the plane over a valley, and landed as best he could.

Yeah.... He survived 38 days in Brazil, 'cause he was alone!
Re: INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
And your point is...?
Re: INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
People have been living in the Amazon for thousands of years, So being there for a month living with the natives is like going on a camping trip.
Don't let your wife talk you out of buying an airplane,

You’ve evidently never flown down low in that part of South America.
I was issued a 9mm when I worked in that part of the world. When I said “yeah I know crime is bad but is this really needed?” Was told it was in case I went down and wanted a peaceful end as “walking out” would be a high improbability.
Let that sink in redlaser!

TPC

People have been living north of 60 here for thousands of years. Somehow I still doubt that going down and living with them for a month would be a "camping trip".
Sorry but you're either trolling, or incredulously naïve.
I will dance the sky on laughter-silvered wings.
Re: INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
It's funny you would say that because I've already spent more than a month hunting with the Inuit above the 60th parallel and had a great time ,

Teepeecreeper, sorry to bust your bubble but I spent two months flying in the jungle of Cista Rica where people live in trees, and I felt safe everywhere I went,

I've only spent a couple of weeks north of 60, on Baffin Island. I too had a great time. I had no idea that so much nothing could be so beautiful.
But both you and I were well prepared, and could leave at any time. Antonio Sena was not prepared, and could not easily leave. That's more what I was referring to.

Glad you enjoyed your enlightening 2 month tour of getting to see the world “where people live in trees”.
Cista Rica huh? (re: huh; That’s ‘Merican slang for “eh” but seeing as you lived and hunted with the natives north of 60’ you already knew that right?!?)
Re: INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
Yup, Costa Rica the golden coast of central America where people do live in trees, but you wouldn't know , and I'm sure you never met an Inuit in your life,

What is this rambling on about Costa Rica and the Inuit in a discussion about the Amazon....?
Re: INTERESTING: Brazilian pilot survives 38 days in Amazon after crash
FYI jungles are found in other countries also, not only the Amazon,

I believe it's about going down in the middle of nowhere.

Even in the middle of nowhere you will find an empty coke can,
