I bet the sound was even worse than the visuals.

Note to any dock guys out there if it’s going to hit and you can hold it back GTFO of there. That guy is lucky he never got severely injured by shrapnel from the prop or the tail. You can always fix a plane but a chunk of aluminum into the upper torso will end your life

I'm thinking that the understanding and use of blade latches was a factor, at the point of deciding to select out of feather following the start.

I thought the PT-6 was fitted with blade latches when on floats for the very reason to avoid the unwanted thrust when going from feather to fine/reverse. Makes me think the prop wasn't shut down properly. Maybe time will tell.

Hard to tell but looks like he may not have been on the pitch locks and fired up. Too bad

Looks like there was a second but much gentler collision after the Caravan's tail swung out.

Yeah saw that too, meanwhile as both guys are running in holy F#$% mode it appears the engine was still running and began spooling back up while both heads were down at the front of the float. Luckily the prop gets hooked on the otter tail again before getting up to speed and you can see the pilot run back in to grab the condition lever (I assume) when he realizes how close they both came to getting a haircut....horror show would be an understatement.

Look at the lack of training for both the pilot and dock hand. Seair continues to become the new West Coast Air.

Go to DHC-3archive.com. There is a chart showing the status of each Otter built. There are approximately 170 still active. The chart also shows aircraft in museums or under rebuild.
