C-GFYZ Cessna 185 minor injuries in Prévost QC crash . . .

Post by bizjets101 »

CADORS 2011Q0949 May 15 2011 C-GFYZ

A privately owned, float-equipped Cessna 185 was on a VFR flight from Mont-Laurier to the Marina Venise (CST8). The pilot was in communication with the Mirabel (CYMX) flight service station (FSS) and was planning to transit through the area at 1 900 ft. A radar code was assigned to him. A few minutes later, the radar target disappeared at approximately 1 NM southeast of Porte du Nord. Attempts to reach the aircraft pilot were made on various frequencies, in vain. Sûreté du Québec confirmed the aircraft crashed in Prévost. In flight, the aircraft’s engine broke down and the pilot lost control of the aircraft, which then struck power lines and an unoccupied trailer before ending its flight in a vacant lot and overturning. The pilot owner and the two passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital. The National Operations Centre (NOC), Civil Aviation Contingency Operations (CACO), the Trenton rescue co-ordination centre (TR RCC) and the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) were informed.
