Just read an article on the accident. Basically, they tried to do a straight-in approach with a steep descent gradient and a huge tailwind. It didn't work out the first time so they tried again.

I really don't understand why they waited until what appears to be short final before putting the gear down along with full flap. If you have even a modest tailwind on a normal descent gradient, you want to do this early. It also sounds like the spoiler was being used into the flare based on the CVR recording which might explain a hard touchdown and bounce. Not much mention of that in the report. Perhaps they bounced and subsequently pushed the nose down. The report seems to be missing critical info.
