KFC DC-10

Post by AJV »

Stuck in the mud in YEG today, didn't get any pics but it didn't look like there was any damage.

It was a 727. Made quite the little mess.

Sure would like to see a video of a DC10 being dragged out of the mud. That would be very educational.

Also entertaining and educational is watching a front end loader use a rope tied around the middle of the nose gear to pull a 1900 out of the hole it sunk into in YPM (summer gravel ramp). This was after the crew tried full engine power to Un-stick themselves...twice

When the -10 went thru a ditch and broke off the nosewheel in YVR some many years back, it was quite a site. Lots of folks just outside the fence watching when they were working to get it out.

That's why those 1900 have so much power right?

Funny that the taxiways were shut down yet there is no Cadors for this, at least I can't find it. Looked like a 10 to me but the vis was pretty shitty. Anyone else find a report on this?

So I am curious... How can someone confuse a 727 with a DC-10? I mean the only thing they Share in common is 3 engines (narrow body vs wide body being almost double in size and the distinctive tail on the DC-10 ... Could have been a Falcon too cause that is about as close to a DC-10 as a 27 is.

Just sayin!

Looked like a -27 with the right wing dipped down. At first thought it was a R/H main gear issue but I guess it sunk in soft ground.

Like I said earlier, I believe it was a 27. The 10 does not typically service YEG.

Like I said, the weather was crappy and we were on the landing roll so I looked quickly and thought it was a 10. Not that it matters if I can or can't tell at a glance what the difference is, but thanks for the relevant info.
