Someone said the management, possibly new, is trying to make pennies out of nickels. Said it USED to be a good place to work.

Tense times for management at all operators right now. Between the burden of high turnover leaving them constantly understaffed and driving higher training costs, pilot and maintenance wages generally going up, and the folks at the top often being expected to make it all work somehow the grass starts looking awfully green elsewhere.

That is about the most accurate statement of our current “state of the industry”.

It seems like a, "you get what you pay for" situation. Want to reduce your turnover and training costs? Make being an employee with your company financially attractive and respect people's time! Pilots / AMEs etc are in short supply and if you treat them like "it used to be" you'll find people keep leaving for companies that realize the "pool" is evaporating.

R1 specifically; aren't they part of AVMAX that was sold to a Chinese company?

From what I hear again, Al young is involved at r1 again. It’s hard to move forward when you have the same special people time and time again running the show. I was happy I quit many years ago and always love hearing what’s going on at regional 1. It’s like watching jerry Springer, but more entertaining. Keep up the show boys, we want updates aha!

We should talk to a tv crew and see if they will film regional 1 day to day. I think it would be more entertaining then ice pilots!

Big Al is “in charge again” seems every few years he shows up. DOM quit after audit. Lay offs and walk outs. None of it is over yet. New VP is a Binder running an airline like the MRO. Safety and Morale at an all time low. Which for that place is saying something! Chinese own Avmax now. Should be interesting...

Aha big al! Ya I heard that too. R1 doesn’t have long it seems. Rumour is they laid off the stores clerk, yet they have no clue how to receive and ship parts. Bravo Al, just hand TC the amo and AOC Documents already please!

R1 does not have a POR, they can’t operate period. And.......someone please explain how they can possibly be training candidates in the Dash 8 SIM right now without an AOC? If Transport Canada gets wind of this the training will not be valid....any ACP’s out there be aware that you cannot conduct a ride on a company that does not have an AOC. There is essentially no approved training program.

I’m not surprised Lemonsong, last time AY was in-charge at Regional 1 they trained flight attendants without an approved training program, also they conducted Ground school training on the DH 8 with an online program that was not even written into their TPM. In one training file audit from his day previous days they had no less then 90 findings relating to things not being done In Accordance With an approved training program. TPM he says what is that, must just be another TLA. There is a reason why they can’t get Oil and Gas work out of YYC= AY

Why do you need an AOC to traing pilots? If I recall correctly, Perimeter was still doing training when they had AOC troubles, and Westwind after their ATR crash was doing the same, no?
