Low time float jobs?

Post by Low_And_Slow172 »

I've got a wet CPL Multi-IFR and float rating. Any ideas on what I should do? The dream would be a twotter on floats, but I need a place to start. Vancouver Island, anywhere in BC, Ontario, Alberta, Maritimes, I'm up for anything.

I know the general consensus is to go on a road trip, but I wouldn't even know which operators to stop and talk to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Search Canadian float operators.

Call everyone.

Good luck.

If you're lucky you might find yourself a dock job still. Unfortunately most if not all the float operators I know of who hire dock/low time pilots are well into their flying season and fully staffed. March/April is usually the best time to find a float gig.

At this point Sandy Lake, Al Air or possibly Weagamow Air might be your best bets. If you can huff it, take a road trip to Ft. Simpson and you'll have a pretty high chance of landing a job if you show up in person at Wolverine or Simpson Air.
