Expectations for Roadtrip?

Hey all,

I'm looking to plan a roadtrip for the spring. I'll be using the TC registry to gather info on different companies. It seems most useful to search by type.

My question is: What specific aircraft types can a wet 200 hr wonder reasonably hope for for an entry level position?

Depends largely on timing. Some friends got onto right seat king air at 235 hours; others got into 172s or the like doing pipeline patrol. Half the people I knew have dropped out of the industry...largely in the last couple years.

Quantity over selectiveness would be my 2 cents. Ask everyone!

Yep. Ive been in the industry almost 20 years and have watched it deteriorate into what you see today. Few jobs, horrible pay, and companies that treat you like you're disposable (cause you are). Sad really.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail the topic. In this industry I wouldn't EXPECT anything. I went from 200 hrs straight to a major airline but I don't think that happens often. I know people who were flying 172's for their first few years.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and with any luck you'll end up somewhere in between.

Ya loads of great info in there. Really ignites my sense of adventure. I was hoping to get some updated info especially with the way the industry is moving lately.

Expect to be shut down. A lot. Don't get discouraged. And remember it's always okay to leave a genuinely sh**ty operator should you get hired by one.

Pick on the single engine operators who do survey, or forestry kind of work, or float operators. Ideally, places that might also have progression into a twin turbine.
