Go apply to their immigration website. It's a points based system that adds up your current situation. I believe in NZ you need 160 points to enter into the pool for a residence visa. I don't think AME's are in demand so you won't get any extra bonus points for that. If you are younger there is a work visa they will issue (limited duration)....

If you canvas companies and get a job offer then you can add that to your application and it will increase your points huge. As far as license conversion....as far as pilots its absolutely stupid for NZ but AME's might be easier?
