Porter airlines?

Post by 7507 »

So now they are also seeking part time pilots and under their requirements they say minimum 1000 hours. But we might look at you if you have less than 1000 hours if you have other aviation experience. What do you think that "other experience " could be?

Are they hurting that bad too! They lost 80 last year to AC!

Puzzled!

Thanks

To fly part time you need to have been at porter for 8 years.
I think if you have 500T of which 400 is 2 crew turbine time... it's more "sought" at than 1000hr of instructing.

If you want a job.... apply.

Where did you see the part time thing?

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

In the LinkedIn ad that they sent out again looking for pilots and for the first time I've seen them advertise for part time pilots and does anyone know if they have hired anyone under 1000 hours?

Thanks

What you have to remember is that training pilots is expensive, so if you have 2 pilots each working half time, you have to do double the training to get the same productivity as one full time pilot. Companies may be willing to do this, if you have something special to offer (like captain/acp experience), but as a sub 1000 hour CPL, they are more likely going to hire someone with the same experience, who wants to work full time.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

I agree with you , the part time that they're probably looking for is a veteran pilot that was an airline instructor for sure.

I hope to have a Crack at a full time position when I get the over 1000 hours and more absolutely!
