About 100 hours “short”

Post by marakii »

Looking for advice, might have a good crack at an FO position on a twin but was told I’m about 100 hours short on the TT.
Would you build the time flying an airplane and staying home till you get the gig or move away from the family and find temporary flying job b further away?

Ideas or thoughts? Thanks

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Go get some time somewhere else. The company you want will be looking for an F/O in 6 months anyways with the way things are goin.

How many hours do you have now? Sounds like a fairly lame excuse, usually there are work arounds, especially for FO positions. You could end up paying for 100 hours and then figure out they didn't want you for other reasons.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Funny that you're being told that, because 100 hours is nothing. Unless it's for insurance reasons, there's no valid reason why someone would be 100 hours "short"... You'll fly that in a month.

100 bloody hours short? Who the hell says that? Unless you're at 100TT... In this market, operators being picky? What pilot shortage? Sorry to say it's a sad excuse by the operator, and I'd move on. If they like you, 100 hours is nothing. You already paid a lot of money for your license, DO NOT buy anymore. No need to in today's market. Insurance? Wasn't long ago for insurance you needed 2000TT to PIC a 'ho or 1000TT for King Air FO. Funny how insurance minimums decrease with pilot experience availability.

What’s the old saying?

Apply for the job you want, not the one you’re necessarily qualified for.

How many hours do you have?

2 reasons for it-
A)Hard insurance mins. You're 100 shy.
B)It's a soft PFO keeping you on standby, in the friend zone. CP probably broke up with his last GF via text.

I probably have 100 hours that I forgot to log somewhere.... just take ‘em!

They were most likely PIC on a King Air, if that helps!!

Makes you want to pull out your Parker 51 right there in the office and ask the guy; "what kind of time would you like it to be"?
