Who are we?
Pacific Sky Aviation Inc. (PSAI) provides Transport Canada approved flight training, operates a corporate flight department, conducts Twin Otter production flight testing and ferries Twin Otter aircraft to customers throughout the world. With facilities in Victoria and Calgary, we are expanding our company and the flight training centre located at Calgary International Airport. The training centre has a state of the art Twin Otter Level “D” Full Flight Simulator and Seaplane Trainer and a flat panel Integrated Cockpit Procedures Trainer (IPT), as well as state of the art classrooms, briefing rooms, staff offices and a customer lounge. What will our Simulator Technologists do?
Based out of our simulator training centre at Calgary International Airport, we have requirements for a number of Simulator Technologists with varying levels of experience. From an entry level role where you will be responsible for performing routine technical tasks to a senior role where you will perform complex assignments of a non-routine or advanced nature, all Simulator Technologists will report to the Simulator Technical Supervisor. Preventative and corrective maintenance work will be an important part for all roles. For the more advanced positions, projects may be of an experimental or design nature and you will need to have the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator and/or aircraft systems problems.
Specific accountabilities for the role include:
• Performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
• Diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
• Utilizing Maintenance Management System to record and track maintenance activities.
• Training technicians in basic skills and providing technical training for other technicians.
• Completing all designated training activities.
• Actively pursuing continued professional growth and training.
• Performing pre-flight and post flight on all simulators.
• Performing visual alignments.
• Running and evaluating QTG results.
• Assisting Engineering Team with modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
• Performing refurbishment and hardware modifications.
• Performing software changes to correct problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
• Identifying and coordinating efforts to correct training deficiencies.
• Providing assistance in day-to-day operation of maintenance activities, as required
• Learning and complying with company’s Quality Management System.
• Providing customer service support and addressing customer needs in a timely manner.
• Performing logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
• Performing housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
• Performing administrative tasks as required.
• Performing tasks to support the technical services group as required.
What are we looking for in a Simulator Technologist?
To excel in this position, you need to be prepared to deliver outstanding service by having:
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent training.
• 5 years direct simulator experience or 5 – 10 years of maintenance experience in aviation avionics/electronics systems
• Demonstrated proficiency with all types of test equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency with software diagnostics and utilities on at least 1 type of simulator.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
• Ability to run and evaluate required FAA ATG / QTG tests.
• Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth analysis and research for hardware modifications and upgrades.
• Experience and ability to assist the Engineering Team with modifications, design changes, and software enhancements.
• Ability to assist with the development and delivery of technical training for other technicians.
• “Technical Expert” on at least one major simulator system (i.e. motion, visual, aircraft systems, etc.).
• Interest in pursuing knowledge and skills to enhance ability as a technical expert
• Demonstrated knowledge of MS-Office tools and suite
• Must have flexibility to work the required shifts
