Pacific Sky Aviation is a privately held B.C. company, with operations at our headquarters in Victoria and at our Twin Otter flight test and training center in Calgary, Alberta. For over 25 years, Pacific Sky has been a Transport Canada approved provider of flight training, including initial licensing and ratings for new pilots, Multi-Engine and IFR Training. Since the launch of the Series 400 Twin Otter, we have also provided advanced Twin Otter training for pilots throughout the world.

Job Description

As an Aircraft Mechanic:
To safely and efficiently maintain the PSAI fleet of aircraft in an airworthy condition as directed by the AMO PRM. The Avionics Technician’s primary responsibilities include: to inspect and test aircraft systems to ensure they are in proper working order; diagnose malfunctions or other problems in the aircraft or in components or systems per technical manuals; disassemble aircraft systems and remove defective components; assemble and/or install replacement parts, components and structures per technical manuals, drawings or blueprints; record problems and the action taken to rectify them, conduct routine aircraft cleaning, pre-flight checks and scheduled inspections; maintaining an accurate record of the maintenance history of the aircraft.

As an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer:
To ensure accurate completion of required PSAI AMO paperwork and aircraft records with respect to the aircraft maintenance performed, in accordance with the PSAI AMO procedures; to exercise the privileges of their TCCA AME Licence and PSAI AMO Aircraft Certification Authority and ensure regulatory compliance in certifying maintenance performed.

Specific Accountabilities:
1. Aircraft Mechanics and AME’s must carefully observe all TCCA regulations and PSAI AMO policy and procedures when performing any job duty;
2. Ensure that all maintenance activities are controlled per PSAI AMO procedures and performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s latest instructions on all aircraft that are receiving maintenance within the company’s facilities;
3. Complete records of work performed to sustain an accurate work order system;
4. Ensure that technical records are originated and retained with respect to all inspections and maintenance functions;
5. Perform work in a productive, diligent, careful and safe manner;
6. Update the maintenance tracking applications of Pacific Sky aircraft and provide an up to date maintenance summary to the Airworthiness Manager and Pacific Sky pilots;
7. Assist with implementing corrective action plans for audit findings, as assigned by the Airworthiness Manager;
8. Assist with controlling the first line aircraft parts stores and storeroom, including parts tracking and inventory control and a quarantine store;
9. Assist with controlling the AMO consumable stores and maintaining adequate stocks of the products required for AMO operation;
10. Assist with controlling and maintaining records of tool calibration for both AMO and personal tool holdings;
11. Responsible for, and accountable to the DOM, for the maintenance of all AMO staff training records;
12. Support and implement the Pacific Sky strategic and business objectives;
13. Contribute positively to the culture, growth and strategic direction of the company;
14. Work in compliance with all administrative, health & safety policies and procedures per legislative requirements and as outlined in company policies;
15. Visually inspect, assess, and assist in repairs and modifications to aircraft structures, systems, and equipment;
16. Remove, install, and functionally test aircraft components;
17. Dismantle and assemble aircraft systems for repair and overhaul;
18. Remove aircraft control systems, check rigging, and re-assemble;
19. Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft defects and implement corrective action;
20. Demonstrate ability to interpret blueprints and written technical instructions;

Required Competencies for a full-time AME:

1. Hold a Valid Transport Canada M2 or M1/M2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence,
2. Strong oral and written communication skills,
3. Able to effectively utilize the full set of Microsoft Office programs,
4. Experience performing line maintenance on any of the following types an asset: BE30, DHC-6, DHC-2, PA31, C182, C172, PT6-34 and PT6-60 engines, Wipline Amphibious floats, or prior work experience on aircraft types similar to those in the PSAI fleet.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Regular periods during which physical effort is required, e.g., walking standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward,
• Exposure to factors such as temperature variations/extremes, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, and materials which can cause periods of discomfort,
• Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing,
• Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands,
• Performing tasks on aircraft out of doors on the flight line,
• Flexible work hours, statutory holiday, evening, and weekend work is required,
• Travel to operating bases both domestic and international may be required from time to time.
