A lot of early starts, home most nights I believe. Quite a hefty training bond at 18k, knew a guy who flunked his training and was on the hook for this.

That’s one good reason (among many others) to not sign a Training Bond.

Most of the training bonds stipulates that in case of failure, the bond won’t be enforced.

I've never seen a bond that said that. Every bond I've seen stated that failures of attitude or training will result in the funds being owed.

Don't wanna poke the bear here, but I'm just curious as to what happens if you refuse to pay? I know of a few cases where guys didn't pay, company threatend to come after them and in the end it was just an empty threat and the people walked away without paying the bond...

I personally know a guy who went there just over 2 years ago with 200 hours, he's at Westjet now. Worth the risk.

Im glad it worked out for the guy you know, I also know a guy in WJ today that never signed anything in his life (though it took him 3.5 years) to get to WJ. Yes, you are right, it may be worth the risk for the right place, but you could be burned with a bond too. I guess it all depends on your personal situation.

Cheers

Tough choice with it all moving so fast.

One thing for sure is you pile on a ton of experience and flight time and PIC in small and large turboprops and don't have to do any PIC US program at Jazz to advance your career.

LOL...

No question they aren't the best airline in the world.

Most 703/704 operations aren't substantially different.

Hi there,

If I remember correctly , pay starts from 33K to 37K for FO based on your experience level. There is a 18 months 18K training bond.
The training bond includes metro II , metro III FO and captain training/ upgrades, so you don't need to sign a new one if you end up getting the upgrade.

5 on 2 off means we work weekdays and guarantee weekend off. Also OFF on FEDERAL HOLIDAY , and yes Home every night.
Our typical day start at 5 / 5:30 AM or 8 AM and ends around 6:30 PM :)

A reputable company will not impose a bond if you fail out of training. That is not the norm at all.

Bonds are intended to cover the costs if the candidate voluntarily leaves during the bond period.

Maybe Carson only enforces a bond for failed training if your dog poops on the office carpet?

Carson WILL come for you if you break the terms of your bond. This is a proven fact. Even if they know they will lose in court they will take it that far.

With the music stopping I would be very very careful where you choose to work.

Like there is a choice? People need to work, and hopefully, put in hours.
