Very curious about Morningstar. Schedule? Pay? Benefits? What is the company like? Any pilots out there with any comments or tips? Anything will be appreciated.

Yes, they run Caravans single pilot. Why would you run them any other way?

Good Pay, 40k+, work 2 or 3 days a week, I beleive no weekends, and with time get moved up to 727 s/o... tho I have heard they may be changing types to larger Boeings and something larger for the Caravans, with 2 crew.

I thought they started as 727 S/O, then went to F/O on the 580?

Actually, with time they move from caravan captain to F/O on the Boeing 727, not S/O.

You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Great company, thus not to much turnover. Most guys start on the Van or as a SO on the 27. Starting pay on the Van is 45K and tops out at 62K. From there you move to the FO on the 27. Starting pay on the Boeing is 60K and tops out at 96K. Captain upgrades take a while, they start out at 95K and top at 160K. Good benefits and a great sched we don't work weekends or holidays so your home lots. The only real downside is your flying late at night and we only fly in Canada so not much variety in destinations. Hope this helps... :)

The three Caravan captains I know there all have Thounsands of hours of single engine turbine experience. Two of them were CP's of single turbine companies. Seems like morning star pays top dollar for top talent. Seems like a smart way to run a company.

It's what we should be paid, really. Morningstar is paying for experience. Not many operations have guys on caravans with thousands of hours of turbine PIC time. The ones that do, pay accordingly. You're not paying as per the airplane, you're paying for the experience you are employing. And that's the way it should be.

Couldn't agree with you more Wally. Most of our guys have Aviation diploma's and the ones that don't have a lot of experience. As you all are aware getting your Comercial Multi IFR isn't cheap (I think its around 60k if you go through a College program). I think they are getting paid accordingly and try to live in YVR with a family on less than 45k. GOOD LUCK. It's not that Morningstars pay is high, it's the fact that other companies are not paying enough...... :!:

What kind of equipment would they be looking at? 5/67's or an Airbus product 310/300?

Just curious...
