First officer C90 Nouakchott

So Execaire is looking for at least two crews from their posting. So obviously expanding from the 1900s they sent over In December.

Obviously extremely difficult to get a call from them

Anybody have any idea what Nouakchott is like? And what the company does to protect their employees over there? 4 French tourists were gunned down just before Christmas, and the Dakar rally was cancelled. Kidnapping of westerners is a concern too.

Our government is really against any canadians traveling within the country. Take a look at this.

it's reportedly a great company to work for though. Could lead to a great corporate gig in the long term. Worth the risk? Opinions will vary.

speaking of execaire does anyone know what shortlisted on the website means? should I be expecting a call for interview or did I just pass thru the basic screening level and there is much more to go?

From my experience with it, Shortlist is a list of candidates they have narrowed down to in the hiring practice. I think it's like a list of Top 5 or Top 10, and then they evaluate who's more worthy of the job, and why? Then narrow it down to calling these individuals to see if they accept the position?

That's my take on it! 8)

Is it worth sending a low timer resume to them ? I have a bare fresh and unexperienced 250 hours.

Ok, I'll bite. What would a gig like this pay a captain? (Just curious, can't let NWO burn down this summer without me being there to watch :smt040 .)

If you do get to speak to someone ask if this is for the Kinross Gold Tasiast Mine or something else.

You could read the mine reports about Kinross taking a 2 billion write down on this mine due paying way to much when they bough it from Red Back a few yrs ago. Id hope this wouldnt effect the 1900s but stranger things have happened.
I think the 1900s are operating out of Las Palmas but dont think the 90 could do the same. Maybe its for a oil contract as they are drilling on some concessions.
Nouakchott is liveable if you have a house and guard, driver etc , same as in most other African countries. The ability to speak French is a BIG PLUS, you need it to get into the airport every flight and every day is different, meaning if you don't have a airport pass you need to hand in your passport and wait, and wait and wait before you get in.
But the operation should have a local man to do this for you, do they, be sure to ask.
Nouakchott is dirt poor, side streets dirt and donkeys carts , sort of like Mexico in a way.

I have only known of one instance where they have hired a 250 hour right out of school. It was a couple years ago, and he didn't have connections.

If you have connections, you probably have a very good chance. The requirements aren't high.

Excellent, thanks, I'll ask if I get the chance. Incidentally, you are correct about it being kinross. Also, Execaire has a Citation based in Las Palmas and 2 1900s based in Nouakchott.

I'm curious why they need a c90 now. Very small!

Thanks for the update, I thought the 1900s were based in Las Palmas and didn't know there was a Citation based there. There are several mines in the country and oil exploration so the 90 could be for any of there. Or if as you say for Kinross and for the Tasiast project as the gold reserves there are quite large.
If the 1900s are based in Nouakchott there must be a local (man on the ground) to ease the expats experience in the country. If its the same guy who used to own the Navajoes there hes quite effective.

Apparently the 90 is for medevacs from the mine. That's what a friend of mine told me anyway.

If the 90 is for medivac then you'll get very, very little flying, probably one training flight per rotation and maybe one medivac if you're lucky as safety is very big in these mines
Maybe10 hrs a year.
I heard the Citation and 1 1900 belong to a French company, can anyone confirm this.
