Maintenance careers////// a personal view

Post by longjon »

Even if you work for Air Canada /Aveos/// if you make Aircraft Maintenance a life long career you WILL be laid off, your place of employment WILL go bankrupt.

How many of you AMEs are with the company you apprenti with.

I have been with the airline I started with for over 19 years, started out as apprentice, been licensed for about 15 years now.

I have had 2 layoff notices but have had the opportunity to change bases so have not missed a day of work.

I'm not with the company I started my apprenticeship with, but that wasn't because they went out of business. In fact all of the companies I've worked for are still in business. I also don't care to work for a big airline and turned down a job offer at Air Canada for the exact reason that I knew the trends and they would be laying everyone off when the big run of inspections were done.
