AC has 600 out of 4300 on layoff. Subtract further from the 4300 for inactive (GDIP/management/etc). AC ran a reduction bid but also has a de facto worksharing agreement in place via MOA with all pilots on a monthly 63 hour minimum pay guarantee.

Jazz has approximately 600 out of 1500 on CEWS. Subtract further from the 1500 for inactive (med leave/management/etc). Jazz has not run a reduction bid but has via LOU downgraded 70 CA to FO and has agreed to schedule CA in the right seat on unbalanced rosters.

Both carriers are waiting for the crystal ball to become clearer. Multiple equipment type/multiple base operations make implementing further reductions and displacements both complicated and expensive. Jazz waiting for AC to provide guidance for Express flying for 2021. AC itself waiting to recalibrate estimates for 2022 which were the original foundation for the reduction bid.

SWG has 8 active pilots right now, doing a couple flights per week.

The rest of the 450 or so are on CEWS, unless they opted out and chose to go on EI.

Effective Feb 11. I wouldn’t be surprised if more layoffs come following Trudeau’s announcement today.

The no news shouldn't really be a surprise with the absolute puppet that is the current MEC chair. He only has a month left yet he has found a way to insert himself into other positions for March, already.

Of course, that is all possible when the puppeteer is the new incoming MEC chair and their incestuous relationship and power hunger is more interesting to them than the duty to the membership. This puppeteer is also in bed with management and more interested in cutting deals privately instead of adhering to the provisions of a collective agreement or having a negotiating team meet management to discuss the current hardships on each side of the table. This would also require there to be transparency and accountability from the union representatives and management, to which there has been nothing of the sort.

Get ready for a long three years, at this point in time, having a collective agreement is almost useless the way management is trying to renege on clauses without being held accountable. There is also the talks of concessions, with no guarantee of job security, that the leadership want to action so they can look good for saving a few jobs and hope pilots don't see the bastardization of the agreement that results.

If there was a little more communication, things could be different. Instead, the infrequent emails come from the MEC chair acting alone, which seems to be the opposite of unionism?

Let's not forget all those union paid days off that are being taken with nothing to show for them. Max allowable days off with 1/3rd of the pilot group still working is fishy when the only progress has been negative, in the form of further layoffs, despite the company collecting CEWS for active employees.

Get ready for a 3 year shiticane that dues are only paying for flight release to accomplish nothing and the collective agreement will continue to be abused without confrontation from the union.

Fellow Sky Regional Pilots:

Due to cancellations and increased government travel restrictions, the Company has advised the MEC of further layoffs. Unfortunately, this means an additional 30 pilots will receive layoff notices effective March 2nd. As such, this also means further downgrades.
Notices to affected pilots will go out on February 16th. The Company has assured the MEC that they are actively trying to retain has much flying as possible. Your MEC is in constant communication with the Company and we will continue to update you as more information is available.

Radarvectors, do you actually believe the drivel you spew. I may not be familiar with the inner workings of your MEC you clearly despise them. However the kind of rhetoric your promoting is certainly a LONG way from being helpful on any level.

If you are not familiar with the inner workings, do tell what qualifies you to determine what I say is drivel?

Elected positions aren't to be used for time off to babysit. These pilots also voluntarily ran and got elected so they should be able to take some criticism. If getting the truth out is unhelpful rhetoric, you can have fun with the rest of the sheeple, loon a tic

In all fairness, I've worked at 2 companies where the group has witnessed this 1st hand, so I know where radarvectors is coming from. If you haven't experienced it, lucky you! But no need to persecute him or her for the statement.

The 35% is the new scope agreement that came into place recently with ACPA pilots ratifying the new AIP, this address the new duty regs, MOA, and also reached a settlement for the scope breach in Regional flying. Extra pay went out to members and new guarantee pay into 2022 as well.

But to be more specific, regional carriers are restricted to 35% of total block hours calculated on an annual basis until the end of 2022 when we revert back to old scope rules.

No. Completely different metric.

Prevailing scope is fleet ratio driven with mainline fleet size conditions for Express fleet operation and growth. This is an interim ‘COVID’ block hour ratio.

The temporary block hour ratio will be measured annually (with updated information provided to ACPA monthly).

Whether this will be limiting on Express during the recovery will remain to be seen. It will be entirely dependant upon the volume of operations at AC. In public information, AC typically reports ‘capacity’ (ASM’s) and not block hours. Thus far, on many domestic routes AC has deployed increased gauge on reduced frequency thereby reducing block hours while meeting ASM objectives.
