Any Commuters?

Is it possible to commute for the YYZ based positions?

Is there any official commuting policy in place?

How often does one get reserve? How does the reserve system work? Does everyone get reserve? Or do you eventually become a block holder?

We have commuters from all across Canada. No official policy but there is a system in place for you to be able to cancel deadheads and hotels and get a portion back as an allowance to rebook flights and hotels.

Reserve: you won't get it before your first recurrent, can't get two months in a row, won't get it if you have 4 or more vacation days in the month. 11 GDOs on reserve, guaranteed a 4 day weekend they can't touch, other GDOs can be moved.

As you gain seniority you will get it less and less but depending on the time of year it can go up pretty high on the list.

Commuting:

1. Does Air Transat have reciprocal jumpseat on Air Canada? WestJet? Anyone else to commute across the country? What are the typical price ranges?
2. Are the schedules commutable? As in are there large chunks of time off or are they usually placed randomly within a few days of duty assignments?
3. How many days are worked on the 737 versus the 330/310?
4. Is there a trading feature where pilots can trade pairings or legs?
5. What moves the seniority list at Air Transat? Is there a lot of attrition or do most people stick it out for the long haul and depend on expansion/retirement to move up the seniority list?

As far as reserve goes, how long are the reserve blocks normally? Are they in a chunk, a whole month? Can you touch a bit on that?

Yes, some also use Porter

Many commute, you try and bid chunks. Some months are better than others and some commuters are more bitchy than others

3. How many days are worked on the 737 versus the 330/310?
Less on the 737 vs the 330/310, depends on if you get more turn or not which depends on your seniority.

We have a trip trade, can only trade the whole pairing.

5. What moves the seniority list at Air Transat? Is there a lot of attrition or do most people stick it out for the long haul and depend on expansion/retirement to move up the seniority list?
Mostly retirements and expansion, attrition is minimal.

It varies but mostly in chunks thru the month. If you're on reserve you are on it for a month.

Are there any commuters from the West Coast at AT CYYZ? If so, does this generally work well all things considered and any comments as to how feasible a West Coast commute could be in the time ahead, operating both the A321 & A330?

We have commuters from YVR and YYJ. There is a rumour of the YVR base seing expansion once we are all typed on the 330 and 321 but nothing official and that is 3-4 years down the road.
