Free long distance calls.

Post by glorifiedtaxidriver »

Found this and I've been using it. www.knctr.com. Free local and long distance calling from your computer, and unlike skype, you can call cell phones and land lines. Works best if you have a headset on your end though. This isn't a spam post, I just thought that all you guys and girls who are spread out all over the country might find it useful.

I haven't, but apparently it only works to other computers when calling overseas. Still free though.

Has anyone tried the magic jack? It's a phone plug with a usb connector. There's a small fee and you get a phone number so people can call you where ever you are also.

Interesting. I'm in another thread complaining about cheaping out on things. I guess that supports my theory, we shouldn't be buying things based solely on price. Ah well, next.

I have always had good luck with Skype and its long distance is not quite free but very cheap. Just have to pre-pay for a block of it and chat away. And you can call any number at all.

If you are in area that has an access number, I use http://www.worldline.ca/unlimited-call-canada

4 bucks a month unlimited long distance in canada. and if you add the number to your fav 5 you can call any canadian number and not use your airtime.

I have a MagicJack and it works well as long as you have a half decent internet speed. Forget using it on the airport wifi or the local cafe wifi. As long as you have a nice speed at home, MagicJack is the way to go. :)

Google hangouts currently has free phone calls to numbers in Canada and USA:

https://support.google.com/hangouts/ans ... 7125?hl=en

I think it only works from a computer, not from Android/iOS.
