Norseman Floats

Post by oldtimer »

Most Mk V Norseman aircraft were fitted with Edo 7170 floats but a number of Mk IV and US military UC 64A's were fitted with smaller floats with a curved top profile. Does anyone remeber the model/size of those floats? Most later model airplanes were equipped with 7170's but a few had the smaller ones.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

I believe Birch Lake lodge flying out of Red Lake had the smaller float on their Noorduyn when they were flying. Happy to say I once saw about 20 Norsemans do the fly bye at the festival years back. Those days are gone. Even the Norseman site is down. Lots of info was there. http://www.noorduynnorseman.com/

That was the site that was run by Julie Boddy, Bob Noorduyn Jr.'s granddaughter. Julie got married and moved to England a few years ago, so I guess she no longer has the time or inclination to keep it going.

Fortunately this site is still up.
