New to me 180A

Post by rus23 »

Good Evening,

I have a 1957 180A with the O-470K engine. Not getting more than 27 inches at takeoff power. Was wondering if this is normal.

Thanks

Doesn't sound unreasonable. Take off roll close to book figures? Rate of climb close to book figures? What were you hoping for? Without a blower you must have some pressure drop between the outside and the inlet manifold in order to suck air through the carburetor.

At what altitude are you getting 27 inches?
What does manifold gauge read with engine shut down?
Has manifold gauge been checked for accuracy lately?
Condition of line from manifold to gauge?
Has any work been done on engine or intake manifold?
Has exhaust & muffler been looked at for obstructions?

Would there be some kind of power check chart in the maintenance manual for a 180 this old?
