Susi Air AT802F

Post by Forestdump »

I found this image on the Susi Air website. I'm wondering if someone can tell me why this doesn't look like any 802 I've seen at a tanker base. Specifically the bottom of the hopper. Is this a picture of a 1002?

You're used to seeing the retardant tank for firefighting. That Air Tractor has a larger one for hauling fuel.

Trevor I would have to agree with you, that that looks like one of Wilderness North's Air Tractors. Even more so with the DG stickers on it. If you go to the Susi website it doesn't talk about hauling fuel, but Fire Suppression.

On another point, I'm not sure who owns the STC for the "Fuel Boss" as Wilderness North calls it. It could be Wilderness North or Conair as they did the conversion for Wilderness North.

If Wilderness North owens the STC I don't think they would sell it to Susi as Wilderness North is currently doing work with their Air Tractors over in Indonesia.

The spec sheet on the Susi Air webpage calls it an "AT802 Fuel Hauler."

http://susiair.com/air-tractor

I suspect they copied and pasted their general description for the 802 from Wikipedia.

The Spec sheet on their webpage that you linked also says it can carry 7-9 passengers. And if it is the fuel hauler and i suspect it is, says that it can carry a 820 gal load. The fuel boss can carry 4000 liters (1058 us gal or 880 imp. Gal.) Someone isn't doing this job that well. I will concur that it looks like the fuel hauler.

Thanks CB. That answered my question. Not about how crappy it'd be to be one of the 7 - 9 pax but how much fuel can be hauled. I see it has weather radar. Is that a common mod?

Couldn't tell you if that is a common modification or not.

It's a fuel boss.
Wilderness North owns the stc's and patents.
It is the only example with weather radar thus far.
