Cessna 185

Post by Reality »

I picked this up from a website in Vancouver..... I'm bored......
Can someone tell me which cessna they are referring to, that can carry it's empty weight in payload?

"When Cessna first built the Skywagon it was the first bush airplane capable of carrying its empty weight in payload. The "185" is fast and quiet making it an excellent choice for up to three passengers. The 185 is considered to be the best of the piston Cessna floatplanes."

"Can carry" and "Can legally carry" are two very different things. A well rigged 185 on 3430's can carry a hell of a load in cool weather with enough water and room to climb.

I think an "E" model empty weight on wheels weighs about 1600 & gross is 3350... so... 1750 with no fuel...

On floats... well... not gonna go there..

3350 is the gross if you have edo 3430's,3525 if you have wing extensions.

I'd rather be judged by 12,than carried by six

Our 180 is on 2960s and has the Kenmore Up-Gross to 3190 - 2040 (BEW) =1150 lbs. That's legal weight and hard to fit the much into her.
