4x4's last a while, I've seen a mechanical (electric) one that was pretty slick made from steel and aluminum, one person could just roll the barrels to it, press a button and the barrel would be lifted into the plane. I've also used just straight aluminum ramps (they don't last very long)... of all the ramps I think the 4x4's with metal feet lasted the longest... a little awkward to pack around, but you can easily adjust them to the length you need with a chainsaw.

+1 on the 4x4`s with metal (flat) feet. Always worked best for me and still does.

...are you referring to an electric winch or come along to yank the drums up??

I can email you a picture of the attachment for a 4x4 if you want to pm me an email, although I have no idea where to purchase it. I'm not sure how to upload pictures here without an account elsewhere, which I don't want to set up.

The electric one that ESP talks about is almost like a ramp meets dolly. You would put the drum on the dolly like part, and then the winch would run it up along the tracks and into the aircraft, where you would roll it off and forward and repeat. I'm not sure if I have any pics of it, but it worked slick.

The ones we use are 2 aluminum I-beams that go to a taper on top and bottom to sit flush with floor and seat well on most grounds. Then 2 or 3 small hollow square stock braces across the center to strengthen it. I dont have any dimensions right now unfortunately but if you want more information then PM me.
