Aircraft insurance annual costs ( Beaver/206 amphibian)
hello,
I've communicated with a couple of aircraft insurance companies regarding annual cost to insure a beaver and/or 206 on amphib floats and still waiting for a response, in the meantime I am curious to find out from present/past day vfr amphib/straight float operators what their annual bill to pay for insurance on both of these machines. Assuming your pilot has over 2000 hours on floats.
thanks

No actual knowledge in this regard, but I would expect insurance to be significantly higher on amphibs over straight floats or straight wheels because of the high number of people screwing it up. A pilot with 2000 hrs on floats will certainly help, but a pilot with amphib time would probably help even more.
The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"

In my experience, pilot hours had little to no effect on insurance prices, assuming they met the minimum which was only like 30 hours or something. Hull value has the biggest impact of insurance prices. So, how much of your money does it take to insure a Beaver...all of it.

Ours was 10-12k/yr private (amphib) with hull loss value of approx $450k. I would think commercially would come close to doubling that?

a Beaver on floats operating commercial operation cost around $80,000 a year up front payment with a radial engine 500 plus hour pilots. The time of owning a DHC2 to fly around 2 or 3 hours a day are over. You better fly or u die.
