Job after working in the Canadian Forces?

Hello,

Anyone have information about the opportunities for people leaving the army as avionics techs? Are the experience and qualifications you gained in the army will be recognized by the civil aviation industry?

The Army doesn't have any Avionics Techs.

I was an Avionics Tech in the CAF, and got out in 1988. Transport Canada reviewed my military training records, and granted me permission to attempt the AME exams. After I successfully completed them, I was issued a AME "E" licence, as I was working at Air Canada, and had recently completed the CRJ type course. (I met the "experience" requirements set by TC.)

An Inspector at Transport will review your training & experience on a "case-by-case" basis. I found that these Inspectors seem to have varying expectations. If you don't like the answer you get from one of them, go back another day and try another. Or try a different office.

Your training and experience is valuable, and will be recognized as such.

It is not surprising to have avionics tech in the army.
After all, I just went to a department store and saw people selling their Swiss Navy knifes.
I regard this item to be very rare. Perhaps it is a collectable.
