Dynamic prop balancing - Toronto area

Post by Chris M »

Can anyone recommend a location to do a prop balance on a 172 in/around the Toronto area? We just installed our newly overhauled O-320 and while it's fairly smooth there are some RPM/airspeed ranges that start the panel dancing a bit and I'd like to look into getting it balanced out.

Not sure if they do service calls but give Hope Aero a shout. They're the pros when it comes to prop overhauls and maintenance.

When you have the prop balanced, assure that the spinner is indexed to the back plate, and is installed during the balancing. A buddy of mine had his 182 done some time ago, but it was not right. He took it back, still not right when it was finished. It turned out that the spinner was not installed during the balancing, and reinstalling it afterward was creating the imbalance. When balanced with the spinner installed, all was good.

Ask John at ATC in Orillia, 705 325 5515, he might be able to balance for you....
