Airframe, powerplant, general textbooks all made by Jeppesen. Available at API. AC43-13. That should get you started. As for tools.....Flashlight, mirror, a nice ratching screwdriver from snap-on, depends also what company you are working for....and the school you are going to usually supplies all the tools for in class work.

As far as tools are concerned, stick with Canadian Tire, Craftsman or Husky from your local tool store. Consider the fact that you'll "burn through" tools the first few years of punishment ( or lose a couple bits along the way ). Save the Gold Plated Speed Handle kit for later on when you are making money

Have a look what the school will provide you with and fill the gaps with your own kit: combination wrenches ( mainly S.A.E.), 3/8 socket set, slotted screwdrivers and philips head screwdrivers ( #2 philips especially ),
flashlight (explosion proof if you can find one), safety glasses, ear plugs or
hearing protectors.....and for %&^$$! sakes get some steel toed safety shoes or boots :D

The school bookstore probably will sell you all the aircraft mech. books you need - be warned they might set you back quite a bit $$$.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your studies. :)
