To anti-seize or not?

Should you use anti-seize compound or not on spark plugs.
Different opinions here I'm sure, and I'm not a user. Wire wheel plug and thread chaser if need be.
What about changing spark plug washer? Necessary or not?
Your thoughts?

Yes, but use the correct antiseize and clean off the old stuff really well.

As far as the gasket, you can reuse them if they're in good condition. We used to anneal them for reuse. They are a crush gasket so they only have a limited number of uses.

Yep, just follow the instructions. The gaskets are about 25c each when you buy them in bags of 100. That's 0.08% of my annual operating cost. Not worth thinking about.

I've operated 5 Navajo's and we never used anti-seize compound. Wire wheel the plug and thread chaser if needed.
Never had a seized plug this way. We found, eventually, residue buildup with anti-seize so why use it if there is a possibility it could short the plug. New apprentice could create a headache. If there is a possibility it can go wrong sooner or later it will.
I'm still using the KISS method, and just passing on what I've learned.

I suppose one thing to consider is how often the plugs are coming out. A machine flying 300 hours a year is different from one that only has the plugs out during yhe annual inspection.

I used the Champion 2612 spark plug lube. It is a water/graphite mixture. It is quite thin so a bottle will last a lifetime.

I asked a spark plug company rep about this at a trade show once and he said the downside is that anti seize can have unpredictable effects on the heat transfer from the spark plug into the head.In the automotive sector, seizing issues are much more prevalent now due to spark plug replacement intervals of 120000km or more.

I just did my car plugs at 140k like it recommended and they were no problem, I was actually surprised how easy it was.

Follow manufacturers instructions.

Lubrication or lack thereof is important in the application of proper torque for the plugs.
