Northern Apprentice pay
Anyone know what a first year apprentice usualy makes up north? I was thinking Iqaluit, something like Air Nunavut, or Canadian North. Also if someone knows about Aprentice avionics job pay up there that would be awsome. thanks
$12-14/hr might get $15 if they are hard up, the key is to find operation that have crew houses that you can live in for free, that way you don't have to worry about rent. I was in Norman Wells, NWT with North-Wright Airways and they had a crew camp for all the new pilots and maintenance apprentices, we each had a privite room (dorm style) with a common living room and kitchen. Plus the parties were awesome!!
In Yelloknife: between 12.00 and 15.00 dollars per hour, depending where you work. Be aware that 15.00 per hour in Yellowknife means the same purchasing power as 10.00 dollars down south. You will hardly be able to afford 1200.00 to 1500.00 dollar rents up here but you might be able to get 600.00 dollar rental spaces if you move in as a room mate somewhere. However, there is work up here. Licensed guys make about 21.00 per hour average in the beginning. Unless you are able to buy your own property and then have room mate yourself it is rather difficult to make a living.
