TC PRM Interview
What questions can I expect when I go into the PRM interview on the 13th?
I know I have to know the QA evaluation, defect and elementary maintenance system, but what other topics can i expect? I already have the study guide available on the TC website

Re: TC PRM Interview
Maintenance schedules, reliability, know the MPM inside and out. Questions like "How can you demonstrate to me that you have CONTROL over ____________ (fill in the blank). Also they may ask you leading questions about your relationship with the company owners and they want to feel confident that you will take an aircraft out of service if it needs maintenance, that they will not control you but that you can control the maintenance.
They are very good in the interviews, they are working with you not against you. No need to be too nervous, its not an interrogation its a relaxed interview, just be honest and they will help you through it.

Re: TC PRM Interview
I have had two of these interviews, one for a small flight school who needed a guy to fill in while the owner (not an AME) worked to pass the exam required (only for non-ame's) and another small charter company, (same reason). Both interviews were actually somewhat enjoyable. Not really nerve wracking at all once the initial "nervous" ice was broken. Both times the TC guys asked a lot of questons about everything relating to the maintenancwe, maintenance scheduling, technical dispatching, defect rectification, you get the idea. However, if I had trouble answering or explaing the system, or what needed to be done, the TC guys helped me and explained what they wanted to see/hear. I learned a lot of things from them throughout the whole process. One question that I was asked both times, and there was a lot of emphasis on this was:
If an pilot phones you with a defect, away from base somewher, and the aircraft is "grounded" and you have no possible way of going to fix it or getting somebody else to fix it, what are your options?
I answered everything I could think of but still missed the thing they were getting at: Ferry Permit. You can get permission to fly aircraft with unbelievable snags with a properly approved ferry permit, providing safety is not jeopardized.
Anyways, don't sweat it to much. If your experience is like mine you will learn lots, and actually even have fun.
Good luck.

flyinggreasemonkey;
I am hoping by your moniker that you are actually involved in maintenance. The one clear thing to understand is the real responsibility of the PRM position. There is no problem at all passing the interview as they practically talk you through it. It is amazing the people who are actually given this position without knowing what responsibilities you wind up with. But you will find out for sure on your first audit or manual amendment.
Understand clearly why you are asked to take this position or if you have applied for it, know the company management and their view to safety and maintenance. If you are going to be a PRM for a company who has their maintenance done by an outside organization, then you should really find out what your responsibilities are regarding their maintenance performed on your aircraft.
Good luck!!!

Re: TC PRM Interview
Interesting answers, I guess I'm in the wrong business because when I tried to get a PRM approved for a new FTU I was starting they failed three applicants I put foward....one was my Class 1 instructor....one was an AME including structures and the third was someone who had been management in other FTU's.
So I put myself forward as PRM and was denied the position because they felt I was unsuitable.
Go figure.
Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough huh?

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: TC PRM Interview
I am sure you will do fine. I have been through it now several times. A couple in other parts of the world as well. The common theme in some ways are "can you control the maintenance" and not be forced to do things by an Owner that you aren't happy with.
Yes, know your MPM etc. Defect control. Most Owners like to get away with lots of things and if you can't stand up to them you may find it difficult. I stepped in to one AMO after the PRM(not an AME) was finned. He was actually signing maintenance releases without a license, using unapproved parts and there was no certifying engineer on staff. Yiks, needless to say he went out of business. All a learning experience.
Good Luck
