i guess when an agency calls up one can call it being headhunted. I guess I don't see it as that big a deal. I've had that happen numerous times, several times for the same position that they can't fill. I get about as excited hearing from a recruiting firm as I do reading the ad's here. Mostly the same shit.

nice write up DH. You summarized it bang on.

guys...don't be so down on the industry...I found a great job in Norman Wells for an "S" Licenced guy. You'll need 5 years experience but that experience will pay off. Advertised pay range: $25-30/HR

http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/jobposting.do? ... rchresults

My first Job was at this company and I was making $13/HR, I guess not much has changed over the last 14 years...

KFC Hamilton
In exchange for the hard work and dedication, as a licensed AME, you will receive a highly competitive salary between $26.50 - $32.57 per hour (plus endorsement pay if applicable). You will also have the opportunity to work towards becoming a Senior AME and Crew Chief.
Highly competitive, sure, with Encore maybe but not really that much better except for Hamilton's cheaper to live in. Plus you must work hard and be dedicated.

This should line them up out the door. What a fantastic career opportunity!

Thank You Kelowna Flightcraft!! Thank You!!

You're not exactly helping your own side of the argument here, Pat.

“Plus you must work hard and be dedicated.”

As opposed to what desirable characteristics in an employee? Hard-core laziness, plus lack of interest, focus and commitment?

I don’t know about you, but I’d really rather not work alongside anyone who is not prepared to work hard and see the job through for the wage they have agreed to, nor a person whose main dedication is to not giving an ounce more than minimum required, lest they accidently do something they might not get instantly rewarded for.

Yes, AME wages in Canada are not great on average and are increasingly losing ground. Implying that dedication and hard work is too much to expect from an AME is only going to depress the situation even more, as there are hangars outside of Canada full of people just as capable as you and I, willing to work and work hard for an even lower wage than we see here.

Its called "incentive" and "getting what you pay for"

hardworking, dedicated, along with licensed/experienced is asking a lot for that shitty payscale, which coincidentally, is barely higher than what they offered in the early 2000's.
If you want happy hard working licensed people to work with, pay for them. If theres a general problem with AME attittudes, I suggest looking at reasons WHY. If companies in Canada cant find what they want/need for what they are offering then eff them
Go and bring in foriegn "mechanics" or move overseas.
No big loss.

Don't think he'd work for you, sounds like a sense of self worth is what you characterize as a poison attitude.

Boys, don't get out of bed for less than thirty an hour.

Exactly.

Self worth has always been twisted into "poison attitude" in this industry. AME's are always expected to take whats thrown at them. Problem is many do.

When you set your "self worth", then don't get it, then become bitter and blame everyone else, it's perhaps time to rethink your "self worth"...or move on.

And the term self-worth has nothing to do with monetary value...it sounds ridiculous in the context in which you are using it.

typical, talking down to and "educating" people again. shades of 737 line maintenance and just like that topic, somebody's ridiculousness is obvious.
self worth has nothing to do with monetary value...sure. thanks for the big heads up.

Lol.

Yeah, self worth is what this is about.

I don't feel entitled to a good wage without hard work and dedication, but then again, through experience I have learned that having a sense of self worth keeps me out of working for low paying shifty operators.

It doesn't matter though. I'm almost at the point where I can parlay my self worth into a kick a as hourly wage by cutting guys like you out of the picture by doing my own thing.

I love it when people make NeverBlue look constantly stupid on this site, then you get replies like that last one..."beautiful". He is so overly-match on this subject (and several others) he cannot form a reasonable argument or counter point...just weird ,obscure answers. Good thing he is a master at 737NG line Maintenance or I would fear he would be on the streets....you know, based on his knowledge displayed here.
