Multi-engine time

Post by Colonel Sanders »

Everyone seems interested in acquiring multi-engine time. However,
it's incredibly expensive in Canada to rent a twin by the hour at a
flight school - if it's even available.

Would anyone be interested in a cheaper alternative? I'm having
one of my crafty ideas. It would be aimed at people who already
had their multi-engine endorsement (and probably a MIFR, at least
on paper) and might already have enough single-engine time, but
wanted to gain multi-engine time to meet various requirements to
move to their next career step.

In addition to merely logging multi hours, I can promise you that
you would be sharp at hand-flying multi-engine when you were
done, and it would also involve time in actual IMC and night. This
would definitely be about building real-world skill and experience,
above and beyond just getting the rating. Heck, you could probably
snivel some unusual attitudes in the Pitts, too.

Let me know,

Colonel ... you should reword this just a little.

When I read it at first I almost thought that you were starting a bag run company !!!!

But you always have good advice and are willing to help the newbies so GOOD LUCK WITH THIS !!!!

An even craftier idea! You're a genius!!

But no, no. This is about getting people who have a bare
multi/multi-IFR rating:

- more multi time in their logbook
- sharper at hand-flying multi-engine
- night experience
- actual IMC experience

As a bridge from simply holding the rating, to meeting CAR 703
1000/100 single pilot mins (and be safe to actually do it), for
example.

a Beech 18?
No, no, we're trying to keep the cost down, remember ... but that's another interesting idea!

Interesting. How you planning to do this, what are you proposing? And in what part of the country?

Maybe the Colonel is going to be a Multi-Engine-Time-Builder Aircraft Broker.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=62858&p=596308
I have wondered for years why a group of AvCan 250 hr
wonders didn't buy a little twin, and fly it continuously back
and forth across the country, dropping off new part owner
pilots and picking up others, while everyone was furiously
logging PIC and dual in it.

You could buy your share, get your 100 hrs multi, then sell
your share to the next 250 hr wonder.

No OC required, no AMO. And the time would be completely
legit.

I am intrigued by your post. However, I am just starting my PPL, so not quite there yet, but I am interested in your ideas.

Perhaps some details? Or is this meant to be a game where we have to guess what you're thinking? :)

No guessing required, sorry. Do feel free to crap on me from a great height, though, for trying to improve people's skills and knowlege. That's apparently quite a serious offence on this website.

I could do it from a greater height if I had a multi rating.

I'm sure all the 4-bar pilots here with multi ratings could do this, too:

Doesn't matter much. The moderators will delete this post, too, because there are Pitts in it (factually incorrect) and because of "self-promotion" (also factually incorrect, I'm not within a thousand miles of this filming), but hey, who cares about technical details in aviation?

Let me guess, you want the students or up and coming young aviators to fly the aircraft to and from the airshows ... to log multi pic. ??? And wash the bugs off of he plane if required ....

Colonel little blue dot video was awesome BTW...

Yes, that's why the moderators deleted it.

I spend an awful lot of time and money trying to help pilots, and frankly, I wonder why I bother, because apparently they already know it all.

I've spent days and days on a clusterf__k of an import, and in another unrelated case, try to deal with yet another AME who can't read the CARs and can't comprehend an AD.

And I'm the moron, according to the experts here.

I really wonder why I bother.

Sorry dude but I'm with cat when it comes to the cars. It's not meant to be read and understood. Your usual AME too busy, why would you use a different guy?

I don't think that was his intent. Actually your offer sounds amazing, but would be nice if you could elaborate a bit more. I might be interested myself, just got my multi-rating.

Ok Mike there is in. How many spots are left the program? Now we know it's a great deal but is there a approximate or better yet fixed cost? Do you have a pdf of the brochure?

I am new to the industry, and am interested in what you are discussing. However there is no mention in any of your posts of what your idea is, and several people seem interested, thats why I was asking. Its not my intent to crap on anyone.

What I gather from reading through the thread of posts is you are involved in flying airplanes to and from airshows and are looking for pilots?
