I already know about Nanaimo Flight Center, and Vital Aviation. But I'm looking to do just my Commercial groundschool at the moment. Does anyone know of any other options around this area, for groundschool? Thanks

There were a couple ads in the local paper for groundschool courses. Private leve I think, but you might try calling them to see if a commercial will be run as well. You should also call the local flight schools and ask them. Maybe give Malaspina U a call too.

Hop the ferry overseas and try the weekend Commercial seminar at ProIFR in Boundary Bay......really good atmosphere, great instructors, you'll learn lots and be finished quick. I did an IFR refresher seminar there and thought it was great. They have accomodations if you wanted to stay the weekend.

How about making the trek down to Victoria Flying Club? I believe that they still do weekend commercial courses..

I cant just do a weekend seminar though, I need my 45 hrs for Commercial groundschool.

There are a few methods to complete the ground school requirement if you want to finish it quickly or are unable for a flight school scheduled one.

You can do an approved online ground school, or use study material packages you buy from any pilot store so long as your flight school will sign you off as self-study.

If you wanted to do one of the weekend ground school seminars, just study beforehand (self-study) and have your flight school credit this time. The flight school would need to certify that this was actually meaningful self-study and would likely do this through one-one checkups or in-house testing, but it's not a big deal.

So now that you have a few hours of the "filler" ground school hours, you can go to the seminar to complete the remaining hours and have the school doing the seminar fill in your PTR in regards to what you were taught during the seminar. Then you have all the required ground school hours and you'll be ready to write the exam.

Sorry, AV8, p'raps I gave you a bum steer - as I think back now, the VFC comm'l g/s course was run two consecutive weekends, on Friday evening, sat & sun days, thus giving you the 45 hours - usually regurgitated on the multiple-guess exam at ARDO on Monday AM.
