Instructor Rating Scholarships

Hi

Having done a fair bit of research into going in for a MIFR or a Instructor Rating , decided on the latter for now. Have heard some schools provide instructor rating scholarships and in return the job is contractual.

Any ideas on this plan ? Is it a good idea? pros and cons!
Would also be great to know of schools that are still offering such scholarships.

Thanks!

It is happening in the US. Flight Safety is doing this, and putting together a really sweet deal which includes end of service benefits such as a free type rating.

Personally, I think it will come to this if Flight Schools will want to guarantee continuity of their business. 20 years ago a friend advocated going to get the Instructor Rating at the school you wanted to get a job at because you learn their nuances, they know you at the end, and it was the best way of finding employment after the rating. With money tight (both for the student getting the rating and schools not wanting to pay instructors a real living wage) some sort of contractual arrangement puts the question in the league as getting a type rating or PPC at any other commercial operation.
