Multi + IFR

#1 Post by MarkyMark90 » Fri Oct 27, 2017 3:53 pm

Quick question here...

I'm waiting for my multi-engine flight test and there is a waiting list. Are we allowed to start the IFR training on a multi aircraft before doing the multi-engine flight test?

Thanks for your answers!

Doesn't your instructor know the answer to that?

Cornwall does that.

In any case, nothing wrong with preparing ahead, for the IFR in my opinion, you have to put in a lot of study work and preparation. Most that can be done without babysitting of an instructor (saves you $$$ cha-ching $$$).

First few lessons you'll be in the sim doing basic instrument work and incorporating the IFR items like SIDs, approaches, holds etc... so you won't even need the aircraft. As stated above, ask your instructor, if you get a different answer, ask the CFI.

Also, may as well prep for the INRAT, it'll make your flight lessons easier if you know your material!

My INRAT is already done, so that's why I was looking for ways to not waste my time before doing the IFR. Plus I saw there an opportunity to have more flight time in the twin before my test.

Thanks!

Of course you should start. No rule says you cannot.
