Been through that program. Have fun with it, and take it for what it is.
If you're doing the pilot thing, you can use your CPL, IFR, and Instructor rating as co-ops I think, so you can finish the program in 2 years rather than 3.
I had some awesome co-ops, personally, I think it's the best co-op any student pilot could get.
Lots of business courses in it, since it's a business program after all.
Now the agreements are pretty much done with embry riddle, to do all of the courses at georgian. So you have lots of options. It looks good on a resume, it's got a good reputation in the industry, as opposed to those 1 year diplomas you get in some hangar, while being taught by a class 3 instructor.
Any specific questions, giver.

You have got to read the fine print. The only plane you touch is for your ride along as part of a course. Georgian does not make pilots. If you're after a MIFR get your application into Sault College, for floats call Confederation.
I went there intiailly in '01 before I realized there are real schools that teach you to fly. Learn from my laziness/stupidity. If you want something to kill time while your doing your licence at a private school, I guess it'll do.
Regards,

Re: Georgian College Sept 08
Georgian does not attempt to trick any student into thinking this is a flight training program. It never has, never will be a flight training program, it is stricly Aviation Management.
This program encompasses Cargo operations, Airport Planning, Airport Operations, Airline Management, SMS, Emergency Planning, Air Traffic Services and some pilot specific courses like Meteorology, Navigation. The email above is for Dave Duncan, he is our course coordinator and a great guy that will provide you a lot of good information. I've posted a bunch of stuff about the program but feel free to PM if you want.
If you want to be a pilot and get into the industry in the quickest time with a recognized diploma Confed is the simple one word answer.
If you want an amazing background knowledge, get some paid co-op expereince and get your licenses on your own like I did this program is one of the only that you can do it in and not pay ridiculous amounts of tuition......and you can get your degree from Embry Riddle right after at the Barrie Campus. This diploma is recognized by mainline careers as an Aviation specific Dimploma, just like Sault and Confed.
Hope that helps,

Re: Georgian College Sept 08
You can do it wherever you want, you can find your own co-op anywhere in the world to do it. People have gone to India, Dubai, Europe, up north, the majority of students stay in Ontario though. You are exempt from one co-op semester if you have your commercial license as well as other courses. Previous work experience also exempts you from co-op, but it has to be industry related work.
The college helps students find work, there is a co-op consultant who specifically seeks out employers and posts jobs for aviation students. There always seems to be one or two students who don't get a job out of about 40, but they generally aren't to keen. The co-op semesters are staggered, the program is broken up like this
semester 1 - academic (fall)
semester 2 - academic (winter)
semester 3 - summer co-op
semester 4 - academic (fall)
semester 5 - winter co-op
semester 6 - academic (summer)
semester 7 - fall co-op
semester 8 - academic (winter)
semester 9 - academic (summer)
So in three years you get 3 seperate work terms of 4 months each totalling a years worth of work. Its a good way to offet tuition and debt and also do flight training at the same time.

Re: Georgian College Sept 08
Just an FYI -
The deadline for acceptance to Georgian is more of a guideline, not really a firm date. Georgian generally has an intake around 50 students a year but it is always less than what it could be, they generally accept students right up to the first day of class. That being said I don't know what the numbers are like this year, enrollment is up but I'm not sure if it would be to the point where the deadline is in effect.
For those students who get booted from other flight colleges they also take students to start in the winter semester as well. A lot of exemptions for those students to.
