last minute advice

Post by bogey »

Any last minute tips or advice for a guy who's getting ready for his
class 4 ride?

Was there something that you wished you hadd'a known before the test?

Did they try and throw you off track in any way?

Oral questions? ? surprises?

Any tips would be appeciated

Thanks

ROFL..

Tell them to get their books and look it up and you sit there waiting for 2hours and after he gets the answer tell him that's $100 for the ground brief..

Don't be surprised if after your ground briefing with the examiner, they get up and teach you a few things. Don't think this is bad. As a calss 4 candidate, they don't expect you to know everything, so the inspector may want to turn the flight test into more of a lesson for you, which is not a bad thing.

Right Seat Captain, that very thing happened to me...and he showed me a couple things in the air. With the flight portion only taking 0.9 flight time, I thought I was toast but turns out every thing was cool...he just wanted to show me a couple things I may not have seen before. Bogey, if you're prepared for the test, you'll look back and see how much easier it was than the commercial! Oh yeah, I got no questions that tried to throw me off track...make sure you review the FIG. (It's been a while since I've instructed but I do remember the only thing he really caught me on was the flight test requirements for each license) I fudged on the difference between landing requirements between private and commercial...stupid but he just made me look them up. Good luck.

Errors of omission are far better than saying something that is not true.

And if you bugger up something on the flight, use it as a "teachable moment" - tell the "student" why you were short on the forced, had a hard landing, inadvertently spun while demonstrating a stall (just kidding) etc. If you pretend that it was a perfect demonstration, you'll fail. If you use it to demonstrate what not to do, and take another crack at it, you'll pass.

Good luck!

Got it.

Great learning experience.

I was sh*ting my pants right up until I met the TC guy but he set me at ease.

I got the feeling that he wasn't trying to fail me, he was looking for stengths, and he let me know what they were.

Oh yeah, thanks for the advice, you guys were right on the button.

To anyone out there that getting ready for their ride... as long as you are prepared... its not as bad as you'd think

It was a good day and a great way to start my career.

God bless everyone. I love you all!

I was fortunate enough to get hired by my flight school in S. Ont.

I'm sorry for the others who aren't so lucky.
