Used to be at ...

www.nwfc.ca

But the site seems down, whether it's from the club being gone or a tech problem I don't know. Their prices we're pretty high and I think they only had one plane, a 172...

Run... And don't look back.

As far as I know Bede or his wife no longer have any affiliation with this club. Since their departure this club has fallen apart. I wouldn't be surprised if NWFC is no longer in operation.

FOUND IT! Asked around and this is the new one. Don't expect much... even the website is pretty sad! Not sure why it's so hard to keep a club up in a town this size. :(

EDIT!

OOPS! Disregard, it's only for licensed pilots...

I'm not too sure if that's new.

The plane on that site was used by NWFC until the SAR guys pulled the lease out of no where. A member of the club had just purchased a 172 and ended up leasing it to NWFC. Again, the lease was pulled out of no where. The club finally purchased a plane of their own over a year ago, it flew for just under two months and has been down since. It still shows registered to NWFC.

I used to be the CFI of NWFC; my wife and I left a while ago. After that, the club collapsed. The president passed away unexpectedly (not flying) and two of the board members had some serious medical issues.

In the end, one of the biggest problems was that the club could not get a reliable full-time CFI after we left.

We put a huge amount of volunteer effort into the club. There is still a market for an FTU in Thunder Bay but there is just no money in the FTU business.

NOASARA flying club doesn't have an FTU OC but they have a flight instructor so they might end up getting an OC.

You can always buy into a partnership and get a freelancer. If you need some contacts, send me a PM.

I am in the same boat, I had started training towards my PPL, and had logged a few hours through NWFC, was hoping to be a lot farther along, but was hard to get in the air due to instructor schedules, plane being down and weather, now left high and dry due to the closure of NWFC, looking to get back into it and complete my PPL, I work full time and would only be available for training evenings and weekends, anybody have any suggestions as to how I can finish my licence in this city, love flying, but do not have the time or funds to go to a different city to complete my training, any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Consider buying a plane with a few other guys and get a freelance instructor. I'm sure I could find a couple for you.

Hi all,

I'm a bit late to this forum, but also interested in starting my PPL in Thunder Bay. I had spoken with a fellow at Harv's Air a while ago and was told that they would consider getting a plane and an instructor out here if at least five people would commit. I'd also be interested in discussing a co-ownership/local instructor option with someone if they were thinking of going that route.

Hello All
HELP! I am another "want to be pilot" in Thunder Bay. Add my name to the list of people who would LOVE to learn to fly here in Thunder Bay. I am currently building a kit plane ... so learning to fly is a necessity, if I ever want to get my project off the ground. I was ready to start at NOASARA then received an email from the new flight instructor that the school had closed. I am still seriously looking. Any instructors out there willing to teach??? Sounds like there is quite a few people still looking.

The way it's looking here now, I'm wondering if guys should just go to Dryden and work on their PPL there? It would be a pain, but do-able. There was an instructor in Kakabeka that does UL training on an X-Air though, think he is still there. Might be one way to start as well...?

The NOASARA Flying Club is renting a C-172. www.noasara.com
Or direct http://paulgalealogbook.com/noasara/

It's not an FTU but worth at talk if you are in Thunder Bay and want to fly.
